Indoor Air Quality

mold_resistant

ICF structures do not omit VOCs or off-gas like conventional engineered wood products.

Air infiltration for a conventional frame house is typically 2 ACH (air changes per hour) which means that every hour half of the air volume of the house is exchanged for outside air that needs to be heated or cooled.  Air infiltration of ICF wall assemblies are typically 1 air exchange for every 5.7 hours.  This means that energy efficiency is significantly better, leading to savings in heating and cooling costs, as well as improved indoor air quality.

Insulated Concrete Forms do not permit the growth of mold and mildew and are resistant to pests such as termites.  ICF formations offer better control of replacement air quality and allow for consistent relative humidity and a constant temperature.
